Why is leaner protein better than a less lean protein?
First off the leaner the protein the faster you fill your body. That is right… Just by eating a leaner protein your body fills up faster and if you followed the tips in an earlier post about eating slower, you will consume less.
Secondly, with the thermic effect (energy used to burn up the food you have consumed) your body is at nearly a 30% thermic effect. So if you consume 600 calories of a leaner protein, your body will be required to burn 180 calories (30 %) just eat it.
To sum it all up, the leaner you eat, the higher percent of energy it takes your body to consume it.
Some examples of leaner meats are:
Fish, Shellfish, Game meats (buffalo, deer etc) Ground Turkey and even egg whites.
