Contrary to popular belief is that any kind of stretching before exercise is the right thing to do. That is simply not the truth. One should never stretch cold muscles before you walk. You can however lightly stretch problem areas prior to your walk, but only after you have warmed up. Never bounce when you stretch, before or after your walk. Ease into your stretch and hold it a several seconds (30-40). Never stretch until you hurt. One should only stretch until you can feel a gentle pull. It may be a good idea to stretch a problem area twice.
