Setting goals for yourself is common this time of year, and as we near 2022, now is the perfect opportunity to start fresh or try something new to improve your lifestyle.
This year, I am challenging you to think big, but work small to achieve long-term goals. Start by breaking your year into quarters. For example, use the first few months of 2022 and focus on what you want to achieve in this time. Breaking down your yearly goals into quarterly/micro-goals is highly beneficial when it comes to achieving optimal health and wellbeing.
Consider these tips and ideas to help develop goals so you’re ready to spring into action for the first three months of 2022:
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! – Achieving your goals starts with a positive mindset. Having confidence in your abilities and in the goal you set will give you the push to make your goals become a reality. Positive reinforcement is key!
IDENTIFY YOUR WHY – Connecting with your WHY is fundamental in setting and implementing goals for your health and in all other areas of your life. Continue to remind yourself of your reasons for seeking change by writing them down in a journal or pinning them to a vision board where you see them every day. This is also a critical step to achieving goals!
RELY ON ME AS YOUR HEALTH COACH – Setting realistic goals and developing a plan to achieve them can be a complex process, so don’t go at it alone! WRITE DOWN YOUR FIRST QUARTER GOAL(s) – Once you follow the steps above, write down your goal(s) for the first three months of the new year! While it is great to aim high, start with something attainable and then break down the steps you need to take by creating micro goals. For example, if your end goal is to run a mile by the end of March, start by adding 100 steps to your daily step count and build from there
